Exactly !
The exceptional high resolution of Minox lens the greatest inner
strength of Minox, and so far is still unsurpassed in any other
format.
A minox lens resolves 200 lpmm, while a high quality 35mm lens
resolves about 70-80 lpm,
8 x 11 film records 1600 lp x 2200 lp
24 x 36 film records 1680 lp x 2520 lp
( Leitz Macro Elmarit or
micro Nikkor at average
70 lpmm )
1440 lp x 2160 lp
(Minolta Rokkor 50/1.4 lens )
This "50s technology" (as some one put it ) lens is
able to capture almost all the information on a tiny 8 x 11 film
as the best of 35mm SLR macro lenses on a film 10 times the size
!
That is incredible sharpness.
Our film technology in the near the end of this millenium still
lags far behind the resolving power of Minox.
For instance, Kodak Gold 100 resolves only 120 lp
Agfa Ultra Professional 50 145 lp
Agfapan 25 145 lp
Ilford Delta 100 160 lp
(Data source: German foto Magazin )
Only film with higher resolution then Minox :Kodak Techpan.
That is why Minox + Techpan is the best combination, and
is as good as the best of 35mm lens on a film 10 times larger ins
size.
Minox lens resolution is way way far ahead of its time.
Only in the next century, we may see more films catch up
with the the resolving power of Minox !.
